You’ve Submitted Your Intent to Enroll! Now What?

June 7, 2021 in Accepted Students

If you’ve been admitted and already submitted your intent to enroll, we’re so excited to have you at Georgia State! First, share the good news on your Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok! Use hashtags like #TheStateWay and #GSU25, and don’t forget to tag us. Saying “yes” on your intent to enroll is the best way to let us know you’re coming, but here are more steps to take to make it official:

New Student Orientation

We may sound like a broken record by telling you (again) to register for orientation, but it’s important! Orientation is required for all first-year students because it introduces you to life as a Georgia State student. You’ll meet with an advisor, register for classes and meet other fellow new Panthers. Plus, it’s fun! Whether you opt for an in-person or virtual orientation session, we guarantee you’ll leave feeling excited to start college in Atlanta. Start @ State, a series of online modules, is the first step to orientation. You’ll be prompted to register for a session at the end. If you have any issues, contact orientation@gsu.edu.

Housing

First-year students are not required to live on campus, but it’s always an option! We recommend it for the proximity to campus and the opportunity to live in the heart of Atlanta. Campus living is also a great way to make friends and discover new ways to eat ramen noodles. Housing is first-come, first-served, so apply now if you haven’t already! This blog post takes you inside our first-year residence halls and gives you a few more details on the housing process.

Finances

Next up, you’ll want to be sure your finances are in order. We put together this financial aid breakdown that starts with FAFSA and goes over scholarships, campus jobs and more! The deadline to submit your FAFSA is June 30 each year, so don’t delay.

We also recommend exploring majors, campus life and virtual events! Keep in mind that Georgia State’s campuses will be operating at full capacity in the fall, so please consider getting your COVID-19 vaccination before arriving. As the CDC continues updating guidelines, vaccinations promote overall campus health while also giving students more freedom. After you’ve gotten those main things out of the way, double-check all of the next steps to take as an admitted student.

Last, don’t forget to take time to celebrate the accomplishment of going to college between now and the start of your semester. Making a college commitment is a big deal and we’re glad you’ve chosen Georgia State!
